TRADING UP: RJO Hires Jerrom, Burt for FX; King Street Nabs Jefferies Alum Phillips

Chicago-based R.J. O'Brien & Associates has hired Peter Jerrom and John Burt as senior vice presidents, listed foreign exchange sales traders in its London office. Jerrom and Burt previously served as co-heads of exchange-traded FX at Sigma Broking in London since September 2014.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited announced the appointment of Kenneth Kok as head of cash trading. Kok will take over the role from David Lo, who retired earlier this year. Kok was previously an executive director at Goldman Sachs based in Hong Kong. He reports to HKEx’s head of markets, Roger Lee.

Axioma has named Amaury Dauge as its new chief financial officer. Dauge was previously CFO of Euronext, the pan-European stock exchange, since January 2014. As CFO of Euronext, Dauge led the financial and legal carve-out of Euronext from NYSE Euronext, following its acquisition by ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), leading to a successful IPO of Euronext. Before Euronext, he was senior vice president for corporate planning & analysis at NYSE Euronext since December 2009. He began his career at BNP Paribas before joining PwC and Atos Consulting.

Peter Williams, global head of futures and options clearing at State Street, has left the firm, according to market sources. The departure comes two months after State Street said it would pull out of the global futures business. Williams had led futures and options clearing and execution since joining State Street from Marex Spectron in 2013.

State Street Global Advisors, the asset management unit, confirmed that Nick Good and Rory Tobin will take over management of the firm’s global exchange-traded funds business. Good, who is chief operating officer of the North American intermediary business group and Tobin, head of European distribution, will be co-heads, replacing Jim Ross.

Gavin Phillips, Jefferies’ managing director and head of sales trading EMEA has left the firm for King Street Capital Management, a New York-based hedge fund with an office in London. Phillips said he will be a trader at King Street.

Icap’s post-trade and risk management firm Traiana has parted ways with co-founder and global head of product Roy Saadon. Saadon stepped down after 16 years with Traiana, according to sources close to the firm. Former Traiana strategy head Nick Solinger left for FIA’s tech division in January.

Liquidnet’s European business has appointed Thierry Sciard to its board as a non-executive director. Sciard was formerly managing principal at Storm Harbour Partners, a buy-side firm. Sciard will Liquidnet expand its fixed-income business, which has more than 160 buy-side members and six sell-side firms.

Bats Global Markets has appointed Ted Hood, who was chief executive of Source ETF from 2009 until his departure in March 2015, to its Europe subsidiary’s board, according to a filing with the UK's Companies House. Hood co-founded Source in 2009, growing the company into one of the largest ETF providers in Europe.

OpenDoor Trading, a trading system designed to increase liquidity in off-the-run U.S. Treasurys and Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), has appointed Guy Haselmann as a managing director to source and sign new clients. A 25-year veteran, Haselmann came from Scotiabank where he was a director of capital markets strategy, specializing in analyzing macroeconomic policies and capital market interconnections to strengthen investment procedures and asset allocation processes. Prior to joining Scotiabank, he was principal and member of the Investment Committee of a $1 billion fund of hedge funds. He previously worked at Barclays’ portfolio division as global strategist and proprietary trader and was also co-chief investment officer at Capra Asset Management. He will report to Eric Green, head of the product solutions group.
