TRADING UP: Nasdaq Lands Ringrose for GIS; Cornish to Gemini

Nasdaq hired Simon Ringrose as managing director of sales for its Global Information Services data division, responsible primarily for sales of content delivered via the exchange’s Analytics Hub of alternative datasets. In addition to Analytics Hub, Ringrose is also responsible for sales of the Nasdaq Fund Network and other Nasdaq data products. Ringrose joins Nasdaq after six months as director of sales at events data provider Wall Street Horizon.

Rival exchange NYSE lost its chief information officer, Robert Cornish, last week to Gemini, the digital-currency exchange. Cornish will serve as Gemini’s Chief Technology Officer. At the NYSE, Mr. Cornish’s duties included overseeing Pillar, its technology project designed to  overhaul the bourse’s electronic trading systems. Before joining the NYSE, Mr. Cornish worked for over a decade at the International Securities Exchange.

Hamza Hoummady, the former head of European rates and options trading at Barclays, has joined Goldman Sachs as an MD on its macro strats team in London. Hoummady studied the infamous DEA with Statistics course in Paris before becoming an equity derivatives quant at Calyon and then moving into rates trading.

Predata named Mars Spencer as VP of Financial Markets. Spencer joins the Predata team with 20 years of experience, most recently in institutional trading software and technology sales and business development. Mars joins Predata from FIS’ Global Trading group where he led execution algorithm sales to quantitative trading desks. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of Sales at Perseus, providing low-latency infrastructure solutions to high-frequency trading firms.

Sheri Kaiserman, PeerStream

State Street Corporation named Maria Cantillon as head of Sector Solutions for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Cantillon, who previously served as global head of Alternative Asset Manager Solutions at State Street, will be responsible for leading and driving the sales strategy for the firm’s most important prospects and clients in the region. Previous to this role, she was head of Alternative Investment Managers at BNP Paribas Securities Services and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. She will report directly to Liz Nolan, State Street’s chief executive officer for EMEA.

PeerStream, a developer of innovative decentralized technologies that power multimedia social apps and business communication solutions, appointed Sheri Kaiserman to its Blockchain Advisory Board. Kaiserman is an accomplished finance professional with over 25 years of equity sales and leadership experience. She is a founder and Principal Advisor at Maco.la, a dynamic new blockchain venture capital, advisory and talent resource firm.

Russell Investments has appointed Robert Hostetter to the new position of Global Head of Product. In this newly created position, Hostetter brings 20 years of experience driving product strategy in the investment management industry. He will focus on organizing the firm’s capabilities into solutions to help clients achieve specific outcomes utilizing the firm’s full range of asset management, investment outsourcing, implementation and advice offerings. He will report directly to Chairman and CEO, Michelle Seitz.

Garrett-Paolella, Harvest Volatility

oneZero Financial Systems appointed Phil Weisberg as Strategic Advisor. Weisberg has extensive background in the institutional foreign exchange markets, most recently as CEO of FXall and former Managing Director and Global Head of FX, Rates and Credit for Thomson Reuters. He currently advises and invests in financial companies and founders through his advisory firm, Matzliach Capital.

Harvest Volatility Management has bolstered its ‘40 Act Investment Products team with the addition of two seasoned executives from Horizons ETFs Management, Garrett Paolella, former Managing Director and the Head of ETFs, and Troy Cates, former Managing Director and Head of Trading.  Paolella has joined Harvest as Managing Director, responsible for bringing new strategies to the public market in the form of ETFs, open-end funds, closed-end funds and UCITs vehicles. Cates serves as Executive Director, and will work alongside Paolella in developing new strategies

Kaizen Reporting hired Jonathan Lee is to head up its recently-formed SFTR-related operation. The former Fixed Income Regulatory Reporting Manager at JP Morgan Chase is a leading voice on regulation and specifically on SFTR. With more than 10 years of regulatory reporting experience and 9 years as an Interest Rate Strategist at Barclays Capital under his belt, he will be tasked with working with Kaizen’s clients to ensure it offers the same high level of service for SFTR as it does for regulations such as MiFID II and EMIR.
