TRADING UP: Mizuho Tabs Pasquill; Deutsche Adds Rubinstein

Darlene Pasquill, Mizuho Americas

Mizuho Americas has landed Darlene Pasquill as a Managing Director and Head of its Equity Division. Pasquill will be responsible for expanding the firm’s capabilities in equity research, sales and trading. Pasquill will join Mizuho’s Management and Risk Committees. Pasquill spent more than 20 years at Credit Suisse, most recently as Head of Americas Equities. She will report to Jerry Rizzieri, President and CEO of Mizuho Securities USA.

Imperative Execution Inc, hired John Palazzo as CEO/COO of the newly formed broker/dealer operation, Intelligent Cross. Palazzo has led strategy, product, and electronic sales & trading efforts at major firms including UBS, CA Chevreux, and Instinet. Recently, Palazzo hired a quantitative trading veteran, Chris Bleuel, for trading operations, process monitoring and client facing tasks.  Bleuel has held various hedge fund, family office and broker/dealer positions since 1989.

James Rubinstein, Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank poached James Rubinstein, UBS' Americas head of algorithmic trading and analytics, as its new Americas Head of Electronic Equities and Managing Director in its New York headquarters. Rubinstein is a 20-year veteran who specializes in algorithmic trading and quantitative research.

Barclays hired Rob Kottmeier as a managing director to lead its business credit and data strategy team.

Industry consultancy GMAG has hired Ralph Piscitelli to spearhead its West Coast initiative. Previously, Piscitelli worked at The Conference Board as Director of Global Communications, serving on their Management Committee for the last five years. Prior to the Conference Board, he served as Executive Director of Communications for Nomura and served on the Board of the Nomura Americas Foundation. In addition, Ralph spent over twelve years working at the NYSE and Specialist firm Benjamin Jacobson & Sons establishing relationships with NYSE Listed Companies.

KeyBanc Capital Markets has promoted Brendan Grady as its new head of sales trading. Based in New York, he onboards from Barclays. At Barclays he served as a managing director in sales trading and achieved a #2 ranking on the 2016 Institutional Investor All-America Trading Team. Prior to that, he ran the trading desk in Stamford, CT at UBS. He began his career as a sales trader at HSBC. Grady will report to Kevin Kruszenski, head of Institutional Equities for KeyBanc Capital Markets.

Broadridge Financial Solutions named Julie Flack as General Manager of its Australia business, responsible for driving growth of Broadridge’s sell-side and buy-side businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Flack will directly manage all Broadridge associates in Australia and she will report to David Becker, Head of Asia Pacific. Flack comes to Broadridge with more than 20 years of financial services industry experience encompassing roles across futures & options, derivative operations and e-commerce. She arrives from Deutsche Bank, where she helped build the bank’s post-trade business, most recently as Director, Head of Listed Derivatives, Australia and Head of Clearing Product Development & Client Solutions, Asia Pacific.

Cross-language big data and AI based Alt Data firm, GTCOM-US hired Thomas Nigro as Head of North American Sales and Marketing . Nigro has 15 years of experience, most recently in institutional trading software and technology sales and business development. He joins GTCOM rom FIS’ Global Trading group where led the Business Development efforts for the Broker Dealers Products to Buy and Sell side firms.

SETL, the London based institutional payment and settlement infrastructure provider using blockchain technology, has named Philippe Morel as CEO and board member to lead the company.  Co-founder and former CEO Peter Randall becomes President and will assist Morel with specific responsibility for international business, marketing and investor / public relations.

John Katzenmeyer, Macquarie

Macquarie Capital landed two big names. The firm hired John Katzenmeyer as Managing Director and Eric Varney as Senior Vice President. Both will work alongside Peter Davis, US Head of Financial Technology at Macquarie Capital, as well as Macquarie Capital teams in Europe, Australia and Asia. Katzenmeyer and Varney will be based in San Francisco.

Katzenmeyer joins Macquarie Capital from Stifel Financial Corp., where he was Global Head of Financial Technology for the past five years. Prior to Stifel, he led the financial technology practice at UBS and has previous experience at Banc of America Securities and Credit Suisse First Boston.

Varney, also a Stifel alum, brings more than 12 years of experience in the technology and financial services sectors, with previous experience at UBS and Capital One.

Law firm Tully Rinckey PLLC hired Daniel Meyer in its Washington, D.C. office as a Partner. Meyer focuses his practice on both security clearance and federal employment representation of Executive branch employees and contractors, specializing in the Defense and Intelligence communities. He also has more than 25 years of service promoting the federal whistleblowing mission and its related policy and statutes. Prior to joining Tully Rinckey PLLC, Meyer served as the Executive Director for Intelligence Community Whistleblowing & Source Protection where he was instrumental in establishing the IC’s first program of its kind.

Malta Digital Exchange has appointed Saxo Bank’s Chris Truce as the new non-executive director of MDX’s board of directors. Truce has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Saxo, he held several institutional sales roles in both Australian and international investment banks including ING Bank, ANZ Bank and Macquarie Bank.
