Janus Capital promoted Enrique Chang to the position of president, head of investments. Chang oversees Janus’ fundamental and macro fixed-income teams, in addition to his existing leadership responsibilities of the Janus equity and asset allocation investment teams.
Stephen Schuler, a co-founder of speed-trading firm Getco, has resigned from the board of directors of KCG Holdings, the company created when Getco combined with Knight. Schuler’s resignation will take effect when new directors are elected at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on May 11, according to a regulatory filing. His departure comes after Daniel Tierney, the other co-founder, left the company’s board of directors in December.
Bulge broker Citigroup has brought former Barclays director of equity prime services Angus Yang aboard to lead the firm’s prime finance activities in Asia, based in Hong Kong. He will be responsible for prime services, equity finance, agency securities lending and Citi’s Delta One service across Asia Pacific, including Japan and Australia, and replaces Joseph Chang, who left in March.

Asset management veteran Thomas Balk has been appointed chairman of StockViews, a new firm that is using digital technology to change the way institutional investors find and buy research. Balk, who has more than 25 years of buy-side experience, spent 16 years at Fidelity, in roles including president of mutual funds in Europe and president of the company’s Japanese business, as well as president of financial services.
Staff reductions at Bank of America continue, as the firm announced Friday that it cut 15-20% of its equities sales staff. In London, the cuts encompassed some of the bank’s most senior equities staff, including Hugo Hamilton Shaw, a managing director in pan-European equity sales; Peter Shutt, a vice president in global equities sales; and Alan Davies, global head of financial specialist sales, who relocated from the U.S. to help build the business in London last year. Sales traders Jorge Soltero and Ali Gunn are also reported to have left, along with junior structurer Daniel Lin.
Miax Options Exchange announced the promotion of Shelly Brown to executive vice president, strategic planning and operations. Brown will continue to remain responsible for business strategy and functionality requirements as well as establishing and maintaining client relationships for Miax Options and Miax Pearl, the operator’s second options exchange, following its expected launch in late 2016. Prior to joining Miax Options in 2011, he served as director of business management for the Chicago-based trading firm Peak6 Investments, an associate vice president at Nasdaq and as a director in derivatives trading strategy at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. He started his career at derivative trading and systems at Susquehanna International Group.
Fidelity International announced the hire of Bill McQuaker as a portfolio manager to its multi-asset team. McQuaker joins from Henderson Global Investors where he was co-head of Multi Asset, managing the team’s flagship strategies aimed at the UK retail market.
Felix Mason, BlackRock’s head of equity trading for Europe, left the company in February according to the FCA register. His departure comes almost one year after Paul Walker-Duncalf, BlackRock’s former global head of equity trading, stepped down.
Highbridge Capital Management portfolio manager Wayne Chambless has left to join Millennium Management in a long/short equity portfolio management role. He will not be replaced directly at Highbridge, according to sources, who say that the firm will likely bolster its long/short equity multi-strategy team with three new unnamed hires. Chambless moved to Highbridge from SAC Capital subsidiary Sigma Capital two years ago. He founded long/short equity manager Harrier Hawk Management in 2009 before joining Sigma Capital.
Christoph Mast, who is Allianz Global Investors’ head equities trader, will retire in the summer, according to a spokesman for the company. Eric Boess, formerly Allianz’s global head of derivatives trading, took over control of the company’s trading capabilities in January, having been assisted by Mast in preparation for the switch. Mast joined Allianz in 1999, and eventually took on responsibilities for its trading teams in the US, Asia and Europe, dealing in equities, derivatives, and foreign exchange markets. Prior to joining Allianz, he was an emerging markets fixed-income specialist at Chemical Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort in Frankfurt and London, responsible for running sales and trading operations.
The International Swaps and Derivatives Association announced the election of 10 directors at its 31st Annual General Meeting in Tokyo. Three new directors were elected – John Feeney, Benjamin Jacquard and Hideo Kitano. Seven directors were re-elected: Keith Bailey; Biswarup Chatterjee; Elie El Hayek; Diane Genova; Dixit Joshi; Will Roberts; and Guy Saidenberg.
Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation announced that three new members have been elected to its Board of Directors. The new directors include Lester Owens, Paul Simpson and Joseph Weinhoffer. At JPMorgan, Owens manages wholesale banking operations globally for the Corporate & Investment Bank. At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Simpson is responsible for multiple global markets businesses including equity and foreign exchange prime brokerage, stock loan, swaps, global custody and agency services, futures and options, and OTC clearing.
At ED&F Man Capital Markets, Weinhoffer is responsible for firm financing, capital management, bank relationships, investing client segregated assets and supervising fixed income trading.
Saro Jahani has joined ITG as its head of global technology architecture. Jahani takes a lead role in ensuring the implementation of the firm’s Atlas based trading tools and the broader propagation of its Atlas Service Oriented Architecture. Prior to ITG, he was CIO of Direct Edge, trueEX and the National Stock Exchange. He will also be a member of ITG’s Technology Executive Committee.
