Goldman Sachs recently hired Vladimir Zdorovtsov, a former director of quantitative equity research at State Street Global Advisors, to join its investment management division in New York. He has had a career of more than 17 years as quantitative and fundamental equity analyst, senior economist, and stat arb trader on both the sell and buy-side. Most recently, Zdorovtsov was employed for 10 months at Rosetta Analytics, a software firm that builds artificial intelligence models to predict securities price movements, as Partner and Head of Research.
On the flip side, the white glove broker lost a top quant trader after just six months for Citadel. Vivek Upadhyay, a senior quant trader and briefly an executive director at Goldman Sachs, joined the Chicago-based hedge fund's London office earlier this month. Upadhyay began his career in equity derivatives structuring at UBS in 2008. He left the Swiss bank for a quant trading role at New York-headquartered high speed trading firm Tower Research Capital in 2012.

Koine Finance, a soon-to-launch provider of custody and settlement services for digital assets, has appointed Hugh Hughes as its chairman and CEO. Hughes, who spent 10 years as the chief executive of Societe Generale Securities, co-founded Fixnetix, a financial technology company in 2015. Fixnetix with provided a low-latency network connected globally to trading venues that, in turn, provided fastest-in-class price discovery, trade execution and trade confirmation for the algorithmic trading desks of investment banks, hedge funds and proprietary trading firms, was sold to US-based tech vendor CSC in 2016 in a deal with more than $100 million.
Style Analytics, the provider of factor-based analysis software for investment professionals, announced the opening of new offices in Paris and Shanghai. The new Paris office will be run by Zenja Sabah Randjelovic who joins as Sales Director for Continental Europe. Zenja has over 20 years in selling financial software solutions.
Tier1CRM (“Tier1”), a provider of client relationship management tools for financial services, has named Manish Patel as Chief Product Officer. He comes to Tier1 after leading numerous multimillion-dollar product development and software projects, scaling product and engineering organizations, and implementing industry best practices and processes. Patel will be responsible for spearheading Tier1’s overall product vision, growth, and development, while ensuring the Company continues to improve upon the overall customer experience.
Before joining Tier1, Patel worked at Valassis Digital as the Executive Director of Product Management for two years. Prior to that, he spent five years at Ipreo as Managing Director of Product Management. He also spent 13 years at ING Bank in London in Business Management roles within Equity Markets Research and Sales, primarily concerning CRM and Research Distribution systems. In his previous roles, Patel has overseen the development of innovative, multi-platform software products within the financial and advertising industries.
Digital Vega, an FX Options e-trading platform and provider of FX Options trading solutions, announced two senior appointments, which support its expanded product development strategy. First, Simon “Benny” Lewis was appointed Head of Interdealer Solutions. Lewis spent 20 years at Tullet Prebon, building a market leading exotic options desk from scratch. He was ultimately appointed as Global Head of FX Options, until retiring in 2016.
Also, Romain Camus was appointed Head of Exotic Options. The veterean with over 15 years of experience joined from VTB where he was Executive Director, Head of Foreign Exchange Structuring. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank as a Structurer.
The firm also onboarded two new senior developers, and said it planned to add a pair of new salespeople.
M Science, a data-driven research and analytics firm, has hired Gerard Varjacques as Global Head of Sales. In this role, Varjacques will be responsible for all sales functions and marketing initiatives for the company. Previously, Varjacques ran global sales for ICAP, now Nex, and served as chief operating officer of Traiana. He also served as CEO of the U.S. division of GL Trade.
