Tied and True

Forget the ho-hum silk pocket squares and put down that mini-patterned silk tie. Instead, opt for the unexpected: a wash of bold color, a catchy detailed edge, or a traditional pattern used unconventionally. This summer, Ontario Armstrong and Cliff Wilson stocked pocket squares rife with playful prints and shades -- florals and scalloped edges, one aptly named “Mr. South Beach” in neon pink and vibrant purple plaid. Now as autumn approaches, Philadelphia-based Armstrong & Wilson is expanding even more into accessory territory, with neckties of equal distinction. Fabrics of wool and cashmere in muted tones are meant to accompany chillier weather, and each square and tie retains the trademark Armstrong & Wilson button.
