STA’s Women in Finance (STA WIF) Initiative raises over $10.7K for women veterans.

On May 18th, the STA WIF Initiative completed its 2017 charitable spring campaign raising over $10.7K for our women veterans.  Starting on April 27th for four weeks, STA affiliates united across the nation to shed light on our women warriors.

Women veterans are the largest growing group of veterans and are underserved, 60% experience housing instability, and one fourth of women vets experience PTSD. Also notable is that post 9/11 women veterans have the largest share of unemployment.*

All proceeds went to the Foundation for Women Warriors (https://foundationforwomenwarriors.org/). The events hosted by STA WIF affiliates are the first co-ed and exclusive fundraising events held on behalf of the Foundation. Much appreciation and gratitude to our STA WIF Committee and Chair, Jodie Mrotek of Henderson, who led the planning efforts.

Participating WIF Affiliates (and Affiliate Chairs) were Philadelphia (Christine Kowalski), Chicago (Bethany Graham), New York (Kim Unger), San Francisco (Stephanie Libien), Wisconsin (Jodie Mrotek), and Boston (Stephanie Minister).

According to Foundation for Women Warriors Executive Director Jodie Grenier, “This is just in time for summer where a lot of veteran moms struggle with childcare. We will be able to ensure the kids have fun at camps and mom has peace of mind while remaining employed or in school.”

The following testimonial came from a U.S. Marine grant recipient from the Foundation of Women Warriors:

I would like to express my gratitude for the amazing assistance your team will be able to provide my family. I just got the news we were approved for a gracious amount for next month’s rent. I cannot even begin to tell you how much this will help us! This allows me to get back on track with my finances, which lifts a huge weight off my shoulders and gives me peace of mind again, and for that I am sincerely grateful to you and the Foundation for Women Warriors. I feel very blessed to have come across your organization.

Humbly and Respectfully,

Marine Veteran

We are so thankful to all who donated at events and online for our first-ever national fundraising effort!
