To mark the 400th anniversary of El Greco’s death, the Frick will juxtapose the work of the prominent artist with that of Scipione Pulzone, his Roman contemporary. The exhibit, *[Men in Armor](http://www.frick.org/exhibitions/el_greco),* will be on view from August 5th to October 26th in the East Gallery. Organized by the Anne L. Poulet Curatorial Fellow, Jeongho Park, the arrangement will pair El Greco’s celebrated *Vincenzo Anastagi*, with Pulzone’s rarely seen *Jacopo Boncompagni.* With the painting’s highly detailed polish, Pulzone’s portrait of Boncompagni, on loan from a private collection, epitomizes the sophisticated style that dominated high-society portraiture in Rome during the last quarter of the sixteenth century. El Greco’s painterly style subsequently remains in sharp contrast, underscoring the artist’s innovative departures from convention.

This autumn and winter, The Frick will continue its celebration of El Greco with *El Greco at the Frick* a collaborative exhibition in conjunction with *El Greco in New York* opening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this November. From November 4th to February 1st, the three paintings *Purification of the Temple* and the portraits of Vincenzo Anastagi and *St. Jerome* will be united on one wall for the first time in the Frick’s East Gallery.
