Excellence in FX: Denise Bandl, Deutsche Bank

Excellence in FX: Denise Bandl, Deutsche Bank

Denise Bandl was recognized for Excellence in FX at the 2015 Women in Finance Markets Choice Awards.

The following Q&A was conducted via e-mail.

Markets Media: Describe your role at Deutsche Bank.

Denise Bandl: I’m a Director on the Foreign Exchange Sales Desk at Deutsche Bank, based in New York, and have been with Deutsche Bank for 15 years. In this role, I build on my strong client relationships serving a broad range of institutional clients such as asset managers, CTAs, hedge funds, and systematic quantitative funds providing trading solutions and expertise on the FX Market.

MM: What do you (and by extension, your team and your organization) do to achieve excellence in FX?

DB: I work with a very strong global sales and trading team providing seamless coverage to our client base. I learned early on how important it is to understand each of your client’s foreign exchange needs in deepening relationships. One size does not fit all when you are looking to differentiate yourself from the competition.

MM: What is your perspective on being a successful woman on Wall Street, i.e. what has been your experience as a woman in a field that at least historically has been dominated by men? What is your advice for young women who aspire to a career similar to yours?

DB: Women are still in the minority on the trading floor, but if you have the drive and passion to succeed in the financial community you will be a success. Mentoring others and women’s networking programs have been extremely helpful in understanding the achievements and hurdles of other senior women in the industry. If you set goals for yourself and challenge yourself, you can build your own franchise and financial career.
